Mission:
Unity
Location: Quarters x Mess
This was the first time Zhiv had some downtime that she didn't spend learning and preparing for whatever might come. "Coffee, black, hot, uh, no, sorry, cancel that," she said quickly, remembering what her academy counselor wanted her to try. "...um, let's do green tea, with lemon," she said with just a little sigh, as she did love her coffee.
After finishing her green tea, she did some yoga and a little bit of meditation, all things that her academy counselor suggested. Yoga was easy, but meditation was a bit more tricky as she was still working on getting just a few minutes of true clarity.
Zhiv made her way down to the mess with only a few wrong turns, as she continued getting used to the ship. She made a mental note later in the day to jog the corridors again to ensure she could still make it from her quarters to the bridge without getting lost. "So, it wasn't a bad meditation session," she muttered as she approached the replicators.
"Iced tea, sweet, and a Bajoran spring salad with chicken," she said before turning and looking for a space to sit. It was a busy afternoon. "Excuse me, mind if I sit?" Zhiv asked the women at the table.
The dark-skinned woman looked up from the PADD that was her almost constant companion with a warm smile. In front of her sandwich, a nearly empty platter of cut fruit and vegetables, a half-eaten, and a pitcher of water that matched the platter in how little remained.
A small light of recognition flashed in her golden eyes, “You are one of the new crew members, right? Lieutenant Silatuyok?” The yeoman didn’t pause for the answer as she knew it, “I am the Yeoman, Aliza Omari. Yes, please sit,” she moved things around to make more space, starting with stowing her PADD. “How are you liking the ship?” It was odd thinking of them having a newer crew than her, but many new faces had joined them after what happened.
"Somehow larger and smaller all at the same time, seeing as my base of operations was a space dock, or space station, and I piloted workerbees or transport shuttles," Zhiv said with a slight chuckle, "...but the adjustment is wearing off, and I am finding this assignment quite enjoyable," Zhiv added.
“That is good, once you find your footing everything will become just like a small town I suppose. We don’t know everyone’s business, but we all share space.” The golden eyed woman laughed, “I am glad the transition is going well, and if there is anything I can do to help it, please let me know.”
Zhiv smiled, "thanks that means a lot," she added as everyday was feeling more and more like home, or a new home.
Aliza’s job did not consist of making sure people felt welcome, but she had kind of made is a mini mission. If people were mostly happy, less came to the Captain’s desk that didn’t need to be there. If that meant she ran a little interference, she had no problem with it. “I am pretty easy to find, unless I am climbing mountains on the holodeck.” Or any number of other adrenaline raising adventures. The PADD she had been studying intently when she came in chimed and she looked at it. “Sorry, I need to go handle this. Lovely to meet you.” She didn’t even bother to gather her uneaten meal, she just stood and hurried for the door.
"You too," Zhiv said as she stayed behind to finish up what she was working on.
