Mission: Tyr's Hand

Mallory rubbed at her temples. None of this was great news, really...but then, had she expected great news? No, that would have been unreasonable.

"Malena," she said, turning to her ops chief. "Any news on the possibility of messing with one of their satellites?"

“If the specs for the satellites and other viewing equipment that they might have is accurate, we could use a shuttle and myself to perform a EVA on the satellite to get access to the guts of it,” Talee said, looking at the group. “Pulling a satellite into the Odin is gonna raise too many red flags.”

Mallory looked between Malena and Bran. "As for the shuttle," Mal began thoughtfully. "It could be useful for getting into the atmosphere, and needed for the satellite, but I want to limit the possibility of tech from our time being witnessed by anyone from this time."

"Well, Captain," Bran said, with a smile, his sudden inspired though flowing above the dull aching pain in his shoulder and side. "It may be easier to not deal with our shuttles at all. Both Fleet and Corps were based on Old Earth military tradition. A few of us more military minded could find a likely airbase and transport to 'borrow'. I'm sure the computer will have old schematics and operational guides and if I or one of my guys don't think we can fly it, then I'm sure someone from the Chairforce over there will state that it's absolutely no problem for them."

"Captain, I was going to suggest that it is possible to attach a small holoemitter on my fighter to take her out for a look-see. Being that our sensors are somewhat unreliable, the holoemitter can make my fighter match the aircraft of the time and would not harm the time line. If engineering can get some power to the fighter bay doors I can take off..." Joanna offered. My ships have sustained some slight damage, but nothing compared to my deck systems. My chiefs are doing their best to repair the damage, but it is going to take time."

Joanna looked at Bran. "Well, seeing as how I have studied and flown craft from since the old Earth world wars, I believe I can actually fly their craft as well as you military types," she said, smiling. "Not taking anything away from the military, of course."

"Then if it becomes necessary to borrow equipment from this era, you will be included on the team as the pilot," Talrian said, scrawling a note with his off hand. "I'd rather pull off the op successfully than worry about who's better at what."

Meanwhile, Mallory turned to her CEO. "Lieutenant Kang, what do you think about Commander Jackson's idea?"

"Sure... The idea that Joanna had for her fighter could also be done to a shuttle. In this case, we could completely hide the shuttle, or if you will excuse the word, make her invisible not only to sight but any type of sensor units they might be using in this time period. It would hide the shuttle and keep it from messing with the timeline. You know... Temporal Prime Directive," Tiernin replied.

The Temporal Prime Directive wasn't even something the captain wanted to think about right then. She nodded at Kang.

"Temporal Prime Directive," Talrian muttered as he continued making notes, his gaze on the PaDD. "Biggest con job in the history of the Federation." It was obvious he didn't realize he was speaking out loud.

"Cates," Mal went on, giving her new security chief A Look before rounding to the science officer. "What is the likelihood that something in the labs contributed?"

"I'd say, its not likely," Remy said, her face creased in a thoughtful frown, "but I'll know more once we've found the energy signature because whatever this was, I highly doubt it was naturally occurring event."

"I see," the captain said. "Work on finding that out. Either way, I also need you working on figuring out how to get us back to our own time once we find our crew. Work with navigation and engineering as needed."

Yes, Captain," Remy answered. "Figuring our what happened and how to get back is our number one priority. No question."

"In the meantime," Talrian said, taking a deep breath. "Communications are essential, how many Betazeds and other telepathic species do we have aboard the ship?"

Tiernin spoke up, "I am part Betazoid, both telepathic and empathic to a certain distance."

"I know of at least one in the Security department, that should help us maintain communications between the shuttle party and the ship. We'll round up the others and use them as necessary," Talrian added, "with permission, of course, Captain," he added belatedly, not wanting to seem as if he were running roughshod over her authority.

"I have two pilots that are full Betazoid. I am sure they would be willing to help," Joanna said.

"Granted, Lieutenant," Mallory said with a nod to Bran. "Although in this, volunteer basis only." The line of consent when it came to telepathic abilities was a gray one, but she would observe it as best she could.

"I have two pilots that are full Betazoid. I am sure they would be willing to help," Joanna said, to which Mallory nodded.

It was a lot of information to take it, and the captain sat back slightly in her chair. She took a long, slow, deep breath before she had to be Captain of the Odin again. "Alright, sensors and answers are our priorities. I want science working on figuring out how this happened and how to fix it, while engineering gets the ship back in working order. Kang, I want two fighters and two shuttles outfitted with holo-emitters to keep them hidden from this time period's eyes, ears, and satellites.

"Understood, Captain. I will see to it personally," Kang said.

"This means four pilots going out. One fighter to each shuttle to cover their backs, just in case. We've had enough surprises, alright? Malena, ops is going to piggy-back through one of their satellites to boost us so we can get comms and sensors back, but I'll also have you working with Bran and security for the shuttle into the atmosphere to try to cut through the crap of this time period as well.

"We need to find out what happened to our missing crew. If they are just gone, somehow cast into space, or are on the surface, we need to know before we can go home." She levelled a serious look at her department heads. "Beryl, you're going to have to keep an eye on the skies, so to speak, and keep the ship moving as best you can to places where we are less likely to be spotted without abandoning the shuttles entirely."

She paused and took another look around. "Any questions?"

"Negative from my end, Captain," Talrian replied.

"Nothing at present, Captain," Remy said.

Talee just shook her head as she closed down her tablet.

"Just one, you want my flying shuttle or my fighter?" Joanna asked.

"I'll leave that to your discretion, Commander," Mal replied, looked around the table, and then nodded once. "Let's get to work. Let's get our people and then get home!"
