History
| Personal History | Joanne grew up in a family dedicated to flying starships and fighters. Both her parents flew for Starfleet and as Joanne was growing, she began to exhibit a look at flying fighters. She would play hours at a time in a cockpit made from boxes and odds and ends. It wasn't long before Joanne entered school and the desire to fly became truly evident. As she went through her basic schooling, her parents enrolled her in a flying academy so she could learn how to fly. Here she impressed her instructors so much that they urged her to take the Starfleet Academy flight school. Before she entered the Academy, she had to prove to both herself and her parents that she could truly fly well enough with the big boys. What she did was a bad idea and nearly cost her life. She borrowed her fathers fighter and went on a mission posing as her father. The mission was a success but her fathers fighter got shot up badly. It was a miracle she landed the ship, however she ended up getting grounded and written up. Even with all that, both her parents and instructors urging her on, she jumped at the opportunity. Life in the Academy was hard but with the help of her new found friends she began to open up and join her friends in their games. Joanne did get into an altercation with a group of cadets regarding who was the best dog fighter. It was arranged that she and the other cadet would perform an aerial dog fight and the winner would get the bragging rights. Joanne did think twice and changed it to a simulation which was safer. She won by ripping the other cadets fighter to shreds which earned her the call sign she is known by, “Ripper”! Of course she got a formal reprimand but because it done in the simulator and nothing was damaged other than the cadets ego, she got off lightly. Graduating in the top 10% of her class she got the position of Flight leader on the USS Arlington. Serving on the Arlington was an adventure for her. Captain Mangrove was almost like a second mother to her. She had that kind of personality that made you feel comfortable and a feeling of trust. Joanna applied herself to the role of flight leader with zest. She taught her group of Valkyres how to literally dog fight for air superiority. Winning several altercations and saving many lives including that of her CAG. Mangrove promoted her to Lt. Cmdr. for her dedication to her pilots and the ship. What she learned in those years on the Arlington made her a better pilot and a good leader which in the long run would prove valuable for her next post the USS Odin. |
|
| Service Record | Graduated from Academy to USS Arlington as Flight Leader and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. Promoted to Commander for recognition of her duty in the heat of battle in saving the lives of her pilots and the Arlingtons command staff. |
