Mission:
Tyr's Hand
Location: Earth
Finley looked down and grumbled as he walked towards the city. He wasn't used to having to hike, and Him and the lost puppy PO3 Romanov had been doing a fair bit of it. For a little while now the place had been eerily quiet. The locals had found something about the place unappealing because it looked like they'd left in a hurry. Finley looked over at the Petty Officer. "What is it you do again? What kind of bee are you?" he asked.
Lorelei nearly bit her tongue off to stop from mouthing off to a senior officer. Something like, How the FUCK did they let you become a doctor? "I'm a technician for the fighter planes, sir," she said through grit teeth. I am not a fucking bee.
"Oh, how lovely a technician kind. So you have some concept of what kind of equipment we are searching for I presume?" Finley asked.
"Well, if we're looking for parts to fit the second dynamic power coupling on the AC-303, then yes, I know exactly what we're looking for, sir," Lorelei replied, maybe a little more clipped than she should have, but she was tired and she was lost and she had no idea what was going on!
Finley hung his head, but kept walking. This was going to be hard. They had to somehow contact the ship and even the technician didn't know how to assemble a field-expedient transmitter.
Lorelei actually probably could figure it out, but she wasn't sure. Working with parts available in this time...whatever time it was, it was long ago...wasn't her specialty. She didn't think this so-called doctor would do much better having to do his job with tools here. She was about to say something about it all when she saw a figure just a little ways off the road. She stopped. "Sir," she said. "Is that... That's a Starfleet uniform?"
Finley blinked and looked again. "Well....yes, little bee. It appears to be," he replied slowly.
The Starfleet crew member they had noticed was completely absorbed, crawling around in the bushes and digging in the dirt apparently searching for something. She had what looked like a bandage wrapped around her head, but there were no apparent signs of injury. They observed her as they continued to approach. She was feverishly digging and looked to be fairly frustrated. She groaned, then looked up in exasperation. It was at that moment she noticed the two coming towards her.
"Oh! Oh my. You startled me." Then she gasped and there was a long pause.
"Wait, are you, are you..... Lieutenant Commander Finley Bell III?" He didn't have to answer, she already knew. Just then her reflexes kicked in and she immediately bolted to her feet and brushed her suit off. She was completely caught off guard and speechless.
"Wha-...Yes. I am he," Finley replied to the mummified Ensign. "What are you doing? And what happened to your head? I am assuming there's a head under there, my vast medical knowledge leads me to believe you might keep one about your shoulders."
Lorelei turned her head to look at Bell and just...stare for a moment. What was wrong with this guy? She was a fighter tech and she had better bedside manner... She turned back to the other officer. "Petty Officer Lorelei Romanov, ma'am," she introduced herself, though left off anything like a salute or whatever. "Are you alright?"
Friz took a deep breath, then smiled at Lorelei. She had a kind face it and it reassured her that things would be ok. Then Friz turned to Finley and presented her hand to meet her new commander and beamed a giant smile. "My name is Ensign Frizila Halar. I am your new Medical Official on USS Odin. I hadn't been able to check-in with you yet. I was only on the ship for a couple of hours when something struck us and I woke up here with a splitting headache. I was afraid may have been injured to I wrapped my head in some ground fibers. It didn't take me very long to realize I wasn't on the ship anymore." She paused for a moment and smiled again.
"I've wanted to explore a new place for myself for so long and now I finally am! You happened to catch me rummaging for specimens for my collection."
Finley took Frizila's hand and gave it a brief shake. "You like collecting, how positively brilliant. Well, Ensign, we've found ourselves in a little bit of a situation here and we need solutions. Do you think you could be my special helper and collect up some supplies?" he asked.
"Yes sir!" Friz said. She clapped her hands together in excitement and asked brightly, "What kind of specimens are you two looking for?" Then she glanced over at Lorelei.
Finley stared blankly at the gauze wrapped visage for a moment, then turned and walked towards the city once more.
