Mission: Thought & Memory

=/\= Bridge =/\=

While Lt. Tye Beryl had spent a lot of her time in transit climbing, she'd also spent a significant amount of time running simulations to get used to the controls of the Odin. Now, though, she was sitting at the *real* Helm console on the Odin, and as real as the holodeck was, it just wasn't the same. The Lieutenant ran her hands along the console as she settled into the chair, and savored the moment. Before long, the Captain gave the order she'd been waiting for: Plot a course. . .her first course as Chief Helm officer. Her heart pounded in her chest as she laid in the course, and she held her hand over the console waiting for one word.

'Engage.'

Tapping the console, Tye watched the view screen as the ship started to move out. Sure, they were only at one quarter impulse, but that was only until they moved away from the main shipping lane. They were officially underway on her first mission as Chief Helm aboard the Odin. Sure, the mission was going to mostly figure out how well the various crew worked together, and to find ways to become more efficient, but Tye didn't care. She was flying, and she'd be flying tactical drills.

The following day

"Evasive maneuvers!"

Beryl didn't need to be told twice. Her fingers flew across the console, and the inertial dampeners did their job to keep everyone in their seats as the Odin spiraled and moved down at a thirty degree pitch.

"Helm, bring the ship around to prepare launching the fighters," came the command from behind her. A moment later, an order was sent to the flight deck.

The Chief Helm officer pulled the ship out of the spiral, and altered course to make sure the flight bay was pointing away from their main threat, "Captain, we're in position to launch the fighters."

Two hours later

It was perhaps one of the longest drills Tye had been a part of, but the ship performed beautifully, as did her assistant helm officer, who took over when Beryl was 'incapacitated' as part of the drill. Alpha shift had come to an end, and the Chief Helm officer was starving. Her first stop after her shift was the lounge for food before a bit of down time before her next shift.
