Timeline: Ooc: takes place before the ship hit the black star

Frazila Halar had always been a goal-oriented person. She worked hard in all that she did and was starting to achieve all the things she thought she wanted in her life. She did very well in the academy and even had some prestigious awards for research on curing illnesses through her genetic mutations experiments. Her many romantic relationships complimented her personality and were satisfying. Everything was pleasant and fine.

Then her former Chief Medical Officer was slipped a glass of polymerized water while attending a medical symposium. She nearly died from the encounter, but there was a specialist at the conference that was able to quickly diagnosed the Polywater Intoxication and was able to stop the progression. Still, the damage to her veins was extreme and it took nearly 6 months for her to heal. During that time Frazilla acted as CMO.

At first, it was exciting to be meeting directly with the captain and leading her own staff. However, the longer she performed the role, the more she grew to despise the regularity and, frankly, the bureaucracy of it all. She longed to return to her passion, collecting specimens and working on her mutations experiments. It's true she was a medical doctor, but during her time at the academy, she focused her studies on research and genetic engineering. Her first love was molecular manipulation and she missed it greatly.

It was during this period of time that her interest in climbing the ladder started to wane. She started to imagine other places she could travel and what adventures she'd go on. She had spent her time on a space station, which was interesting in that she got to care for countless species of patients, but she knew there would be no joy of discovering new worlds herself as long as she was on the space station. She began to long for joining a ship and going on adventures into new places she'd never experienced before. For months this urge built. Then CMO returned to her post and Frazilla found herself free again. She had the same freedoms as before, but her need to explore for herself was galvanized and she realized she would no longer be happy serving on the space station.

When the opportunity to join the new crew of the USS Odin came as their specimen and mutation specialist she jumped at the chance. She researched all she could, talked to her mentors and pulled all the favors she could to make this a reality.

And it finally was, she thought, as she boarded her new ship.
