Madalene stayed down in the banquet hall to brief them on what she needed them to do it was simple but extremely important that it was done. Truth be told this would need be ship-wide thing if they found any more of whatever she found and truth be told it could be nothing. Hence that was why she was heading to security for them to determine if they have a security breach or not.

Walking into security Madalene looked around trying to figure out who was in charge. "Um excuse me is the chief in?"

"Lientenant." spoke a familiar voice, followed by a familiar face (and the rest of the person in question as well) emerging from a doorway. "I'm acting chief security. What can I do for you?"

"I was investigating the blackout checking the optical data-network hub for that area and I found this." Madalene said pulling out the box out of her backpack. "Um...it was plugged in like all the other iso-linear chips but it's not one of ours but I am not sure what it does. I have a ops team checking all the hubs on that deck as we speak."

"Good find and good call." Kristiana sat down at the chief's desk. "How was it plugged in? That might give a clue about its function."

"Um...like this," Madalene said taking her PaDD out of her backpack and showing her the picture, "it was placed in the middle of the hub most likely in the hopes to not stand out."

It was moments like this when Kristiana realized that she knew entirely too little about engineering to be much of help here. "I see." she frowned. "In your professional opinion, do you believe this device could be a timed or remotely operated 'bomb' of sorts to temporarily short out the power to a deci or location?"

"Possible, yes very possible is it I don't know." Madalene said, "...I'll need to head down to the science labs to take a closer look at it. And have someone from science and even engineering to help out. But I think you could be right that it was either timed or a remote mini-EMP device."

"Get some scans of our guests' transports, see if some of the technology used matches up. You say it's not ours and it doesn't look like Federation tech, but if we can figure out more information about where it came from that'll help us get to the bottom of this." The Russian redhead looked up at Madalene.

"Oh...that is good idea," Madalene said feeling stupid not thinking of that. "I'll get our transport chief to take look at that. While myself and whatever team is assembled take a look at this. Do you want to inform the captain and shall I?"

"You can if you want to, though maybe wait until your team has found all it can. This is a good find, but it only raises more questions in the end." Kris said, leaning back in her chair.

"Right," Madalene said with a nod putting these things into her backpack but stopped when she picked the box with the device in it. "Um...do you want to scan it for fingerprints. It might be good to eliminate suspects."

"I would, but I think this one has your fingerprints on it now. Wouldn't be much left to scan." Kris spoke.

"Actually I put gloves on before touching it," Madalene said with a small smirk.

Kristiana smiled, rising to her feet again. "Excellent. Proper procedure." she winked, reaching for a tricorder, starting to scan the device.

Madalene had opened the top of the box allowing scans to penetrate the faraday protection. "...so do you have any more information on the murder?"

"Nothing I can share. Still working on setting up the investigation." Kris offered. "Hmm. No prints. Some feint biological residue, but - too deteriorated to make anything positive from it." she sighed, moderately annoyed.

"Well it was worth a try." Madalene said closing the lid and placing it back into the backpack. "Well once I get more information I'll send it straight to you. Thank you for your help." Madalene said with a smirk as she turned and started heading out of the office.

"Thank you, Lieutenant. Good work." Kris called after Madalene.
