Joanna was already skidding into the fighter bay as were her pilots as well. She had drilled the alert status points into their heads for days now and smiling at how fast they had mounted up was amazing. All fighters were already being launched and half were assigned to stand guard around the Odin ane the rest were with Joanna heading towards the Romulan ship and the pirates.

"Ripper to Captain, this Romulan bird is of no known configuration to us but these pirates are. Their Syndicate and I think that they.....Oh shit......Corky dive, you got one on your six", she said on the open com. Bringing her fighter around she lined up just as Corky dived and she came up under the diving fighter and took out the pirate ship. "As I was saying, they don't have any distinct firing patterns like I am used to seeing. This might be staged, for what reason I am not sure", she said.

Mallory heard the report from her CAG and frowned slightly, exchanging a curious glance with her XO as she mouthed the word staged? Out loud, however, she said, "Keep a watch on things but the mission remains the same. We have an away team checking for people in need of help on that ship and whether staged or not, those ships are still firing on it and need to stop."

"Understood captain Ripper out!", Joanna said. Just then a pirate ship made for the engines of the Romulan ship and she did not wait, " Corky, Tiger, on me! Get that SOB before they hit the engines", she shouted, banking right with both her pilots with her, she made for the pirate ship. Corky broke left, Tiger broke left, and flanked the pirate ship while Ripper barreled down the middle. The plan was catch him in the crossfire before he could hit the engines. It was a good plan had it worked but just then from behind the Romulan came five pirate ships and started shooting at them.

"Break, Break, bandits, pick your targets", Ripper hollered. Banking her own fighter hard left, she almost stood the ship on its nose as she came around taking out one pirate ship almost immediately. Corky and Tiger had both taken out one pirate each before they could come back and engage the others. Ripper was banking and firing at the same time taking out one more fighter when Coey came out of nowhere and blasted the one headed for the Romulan's engines. "Good show Corky, drinks on me. Lets scatter these flies", Joanna said, and that is exactly what they did allowing the away team some extra time.

The marauder ships were certainly making a hard go of it, but what added to the melee and chaos was that while the ship they were protecting wasn't shooting at the Odin's fighters, it didn't seem to be trying to avoid them either. One from Raven Squadron had a close call with a green-colored laser that shot out at a pirate ship she had been heading towards, and a relevant slew of curses followed over the comms.

"No good deed goes unpunished, I guess," the Raven pilot growled as she banked away. "Watch out for that Romulan ship's guns. She's firing fast and apparently not watching her trajectory too well."

"Jeez what the hell? Corky watch your ass! You got one on your tail bank right now!", Joanna yelled. Corky heard her and watched Corky bank hard right giving Joanna the shot. As she watched the marauder ship exploded just left of her. "Silverfox join up on me, I'm going to tdy to get in close to that Romulan. I wanna see just exactly what and who she is", she added.

"Right on your wing boss", Silverfox said.
