Mission: Thought & Memory

While the Odin was a tactical vessel like the Trinity, that was where the similarities between between the two ships ended, and while Tye'd spent a lot of her downtime running holodeck sessions to get familiar with the Nebula class, the holodeck wasn't the same as the real thing. The first mission was meant to be routine, but what did routine mean in Starfleet? Was the CHelm officer surprised their first mission out saw combat?

In truth? She was. Beryl tended to be ever the optimist, so when spanners found their way into the works, it genuinely surprised the lieutenant. All of these thoughts were fleeting as Tye's fingers flew across her console. The fighters had been scrambled and the captain gave permission for her to take whatever evasive maneuvers that might be needed. Easy enough on one hand. Coordinating with tactical, though, would be the challenge, especially now that the larger of the pirate vessels was targeting the Odin.

"Initiating evasive manuever Kappa Chai Three," Tye called out for the benefit of Lt. Commander Kolath.

The Klingon's voice rumbled, "Targeting their weapons systems." After a few seconds, he barked, "They are firing weapons."

Tye didn't hesitate as she adjusted the attitude of the Odin. Inertial dampeners would protect the crew from the g-forces the maneuver would inflict, and from the outside, the Odin inverted and spiraled, making it a much more difficult target to hit. The ship shook as glancing blows hit it, but Tye didn't dare stop.

One big difference with the Akira-II was the turning radius. The shorter bow to stern profile meant the Odin was quicker to turn and easier to pivot. Towards the 'end' of the dive, Tye turned the vessel almost in place and started a run directly for the larger vessel. The smaller vessels that decided to give chase found themselves playing a game of chicken with a very determined helm officer, and the move gave Kolath his choice of targets.

Tye knew better than to play a fool's game of chicken, and intended simply to divide and conquer, plus give her tactical officer the best shot she could at the larger of the pirate vessels.

"The larger vessel is firing on us again," Kolath warned.

Tye smirked, "Hold on, this might get bumpy. . ."
