Mission:
Tyr's Hand
Location: Bridge
=/= Begin Log =/=
....Madalene was exhausted she had been doing everything she could to find her former direct superior. Rubbing her eyes she looked over the latest scans. Problem nothing was coming up empty handed. Sighing she looked around the empty bridge. She should be sleeping. Getting ready for the morning. Getting ready to get the ship ready for the trip home how ever they were gonna do it.
Talrian was getting frustrated. There were still several sectors left to scan and they were beginning to run out of time before the ship was scheduled to attempt to depart. He felt that there were ways to refine the scanners even more, working to speed them up and increase efficiency. If he found something then maybe he could convince the captain to hold off on their departure until the full scan was completed. It wasn't like they didn't have the time. Time travel gave them that amount of time. It only felt like forever when you were speaking with Temporal Investigations.
Talrian shook his head even thinking of that. He hated Temporal Investigations with a passion.
He picked up his empty mug and stood to get a refill, not sure how much the caffeine was actually helping him anymore. He felt that so far he was getting to the point of sleep deprivation where he was getting loopy even with himself. But, as he stood, he noticed someone at the Ops station. He felt as if it wouldn't hurt to, maybe, get someone else's perspective on what more he could do with the systems.
"Excuse me, Lieutenant," he asked across the bridge. He did't recognize her, but that wasn't suprising considering he was only on the ship a short time before all this happened. "Would you be able to take a look to see if I have the scanners at optimum proficiency?"
"It is already at optimum proficiency," Madalene snapped. {Damn't! Pull yourself together Maddy!} She thought looking at the man, "...apologies Lieutenant. There is nothing more we can do to get any more efficiency out of them." Madalene said keeping her emotions somewhat in check but you could hear it in her voice.
"Damn," Talrian muttered, staring into his empty mug. "Not enough time!" he was tired and frayed and...she was still out there. They'd found a few more on the planet...all dead of course...but the object of his search, the one he was focused on, was still out there. And if he didn't have something to take to the captain, she wouldn't keep the ship here. In a way Talrian understood it. It was just a body now, but...that wasn't the point.
In the end, she lived up to the warfighter code. She gave her life to protect, defend and save those of her ship and crew. Everything he thought and said about her denigrated her. However, on reading the report of her death, he...was wrong. She had family, friends, people who loved and cared for her who deserved to have the closure. She deserved to be brought home. "Nothing?" he asked, slamming his mug on the station.
"....." Madalene was about to say no and shake her head. As she must put the man together and she was about to give him am ass-whooping for what he had said and did to her former direct superior. But the console beeped, "...no wait I I have something." She said putting it up on the view screen magnifying it as much as possible. "S shit....I is that her?"
"Enhancing image now," Talrian said, his fingers flying over the controls. The main viewscreen flared to life. The ship's orbit was just in the process of creating a 'dawn' around the planet, so Talrian filtered the light and...
"I think so," Talrian said, standing and staring at the viewscreen. The body, in an EVA suit, slowly rotated. Still covered, they wouldn't be able to see the person inside the suit but, as far as Talrian knew, there would only be one member of the crew lost in an EVA suit. Still, as they watched and the body continued to rotate, it soon became apparent the face shield was cracked and a glimpse of a face with Caitan features were seen. "That has to be here," Talrian said, sighing as he spoke.
"You know how to pilot a a pod?" Talrian asked the Ops officer.
Madalene shook her head. "No." But that was only half of it. "I I do...don't think I can go and get her." And with that Madalene turned and headed for the lift.
Talrian watched her leave, glanced around the bridge and sighed. He transferred the coordinates to his PaDD and hit the signal to summon the on duty security officer to man the station. Now that he'd found her, he would just have to go and retrieve her. And stack her in the cargo bay with all the others. Then...
...he needed to check on Cindreth and see how the petty officer was doing with medical equipment.
