Harva was buried nose deep in his tricorder, slowly running along a bulkhead, brows furrowed, trying to track down a signal, or rather the interruption of one. He'd tracked it down to this particular section in this particular corridor, but hadn't found the actual fault yet. Fortunately a flux in the magnetic field generated by the problematic conduit would help him pinpoint the problem. But until such a time he was perhaps concentrating a bit too much on the device in his massive paw, and not enough on who else might be roaming the same corridor.
As Alizabeth had been making her way around the ship looking to familiarize herself with the crew as much as she could since her workload at the moment was light, seeing her out in random passageways was becoming commonplace. She was trying to manage at least a face to face with those on the bridge most often, but she knew she would be reading plenty of reports from other departments and so she when she saw the Lieutenant Commander ahead she walked just close enough to not startle and cleared her throat softly and said, “Sir?”
An ear flicked, the massive Sirran glanced over - and down, offering a smile. One might consider the flashing of such an impressive set of predatory teeth intimidating, if the being's tail wasn't giving a lazy wag and the ears weren't pricked upright and forward, in interest. "Oh, hello petty officer," His rumbling voice was a deep, sonorous basso profondo. "I don't think we've met before."
“Lieutenant Commander,” Aliza greeted with a more practiced stance, easily into attention with her athletic grace. “No sir we haven’t. I am the new yeoman, Alizabeth Omari.” Keeping herself standing straight with her bright eyes warm and with a hint of dancing good nature in them. Her dark skin showed off her eyes perfectly and little dots of gold spattered across her cheeks.
Something he did notice. It puzzled him, but he hid it well. "Call me Harva," he rumbled. "Yeoman, huh? Fancy."
With a tip of her head and warm smile, “Alizabeth, or Aliza as you please, and yes, I suppose it may seem so for certain, but really I am a simple go to for the captain and a keeper of the list of tasks awaiting him. That is, of course, if he lets me not all people like someone reminding them to take time to eat.”
"Alizabeth, alright," with a nod. "Haven't had much to do with the captain, most of the time I deal with Petrova, but from what I've seen of him he's good people. Radiates calm, you know? Like he's always in control."
With a nod of her head and relaxing a bit more. “That is good to hear, though if he is already organized and in control that will leave little for me to do. I might have to take up a new hobby.”
"I'm sure it'll be fine, they didn't send you here for nothing," Harva shrugged. "And taking up a hobby sounds like fun. I like cooking, myself," the massive wolfman added with a grin and a wag of his tail.
Alizabeth matched the grin, “I actually read old science fiction literature and compare their thoughts of the future to the reality. But if the Captain did not need me I would probably be in the gym or holodeck doing something active.”
"Really!" Harva smiled. "I could always use an exercise buddy. Though I'll pass on asking you to spot me when I'm doing weights," he chuckled.
“Both of those are acceptable! I am sure we can arrange gym time together. I find working out and sports are a great way to just clear my mind.” She settled her in front of her, “I was fairly predictable as to where to find me after testing at the Academy.”
There were many things Harva could say, but decided not to as it might be considered unprofessional or impolite, though it was easy to see that all those hours working out had done her good. "Yeah it is. I do my best thinking lifting weights," he agreed. "Was there anything I can do for you, Aliza?"
Aliza tightened her posture back up to loosely at attention, “No sir. Just trying to meet others on the ship so when I saw you, I thought to introduce myself. Sorry if I interrupted. Hope to see you in the gym soon.” She was too self confident to look like she was about to bolt at the thought of bothering him, more that she was ready to continue as easy stroll, though she never leisurely moved anywhere, the woman always looked as though she had purpose.
"No bother at all," he waved dismissively, offering a friendly smile. "It was nice meeting you, Aliza."
“Nice meeting you as well,” she replied then continued to walk down past him to see who else she might have the chance to meet.
