Madalene could finally identify, or at least put some form wording to what she is feeling. Claustrophobic, but not in the typical sense, she felt claustrophobic in her own body. Like, she was fighting for control over her own body, it was like she had taken a stimulant, making her feel like everything around her wasn't moving at her speed.
Stepping into the lift, Madalene leaned against the railing closing her eyes as she tried to, get back to the right speed. Just as the doors swished closed her PaDD beeped, letting her know that one of her staff had awoken from a coma. "Interesting," Madalene said opening her eyes, as she called for sickbay.
The lift lurched slightly as it started moving taking its participants to the deck they requested, once there the doors swished open and the very distracted lieutenant stepped out. As Madalene stepped out of the lift a new feeling came over her, the feeling of just how busy her mind was, but she couldn't pinpoint specific thoughts, outside of vaguely keeping track of where she was going or doing.
Once in the infirmary Madalene looked around, it took her a couple of seconds to realize that she had forgotten who she came here to see, "where can I find a lieutenant Vee," Madalene stopped as she had to look again, "...yes a lieutenant Veera," she said, and with that the nurse did a quick look and asked for Madalene to follow her.
"Lieutenant Veera, I am lieutenant Sabine. I am your department head," Madalene said looking at the very curious looking rabbit.
Callisi glanced over towards her department head, and gave a slow nod. Her hair hardly moving from the speed of it, but her lengthy ears did give a slight bob as her head shifted. The speed of the nod was not out of confusion but out of the honest feeling that right now, that's about all she could manage. "It's good to meet you, Lieutenant." she started formal, and would dial back as allowed. That, however, was Sabine's call.
"Once medical clears me I'll be prepared to report for duty, and start on any projects needed." she assured, before turning more of her body to fully face her department head. Shifting just her eye was tiresome, and a new pain started to form behind the eye. She'd inform medical of it if it got too bothersome, but at the moment she was slightly grateful for it. Pain reminded you that you were alive, after all.
"Perhaps you could bring me up to speed on what I missed while I was out?"
Madalene sighed, normally this would not be an issue, but now it just seemed like whenever she spoke it was to give a sit rep. "Right now, we are putting a plan into action to make sure that communications stay available to the away team down on the planet," Madalene said going simple.
"If there's a plan, that implies that something is interfering." she surmised. "My apologies if my request came at a bad time. I'd rather walk into a situation with some degree of warning. As you could imagine, I don't relish the thought of being blindsided."
Again.
"Yes, there is. A large electrical storm on the planet," Madalene explained, "...so instead of waiting to see if the storm completely diminishes our communications we are being a bit proactive and getting a plan in place for when it does happen," Madalene said finishing her explanation.
Callisi simply gave a nod. "Understood." and left it at that for the moment, as there was little to add to the moment. How Madaline explained it made pretty much perfect sense. Don't wait for it to break, have a fix in place.
Madalene took a deep breath, as she let that breath go she slowly started to become more like herself, "once you are cleared we'll need all hands on deck," Madalene said reassuring the ops officer that she'll be most busy with everything that is popping up.
That didn't seem to bother her. Not as much as whatever the hell was happening behind that actual thick skull of her's. "Good. I don't like sitting idly by on shift." She flopped back in the bed, annoyed at her current situation. Trapped until cleared by medical. She glanced back along her form to glance at her department chief: One eye a striking blue devoid of all reflection, just a matte painting set in her pretty head while the other eye was hidden from the world behind an eye patch. Black material obscured the eye within, though the hint of a singular pinprick of blue light shone from the inside onto the patch, following wherever her other eye looked.
Madalene understood that trapped feeling, pulling out a PaDD she made sure it had all the recent scans of the electrical storm, "okay, take a look at this. This is the electrical storm on the planet, I know that storms are unpredictable, but with these base scans of the planet I would like to see potential outcomes of what the storm might do or if and when the storm might let up."
The rabbitess claimed the PaDD and started to skim through the data. "Okay, so let's just assume the storm is never going to get better." she ran through some of the scans, trailing back and forth through the time lapse. "That's an awful lot of electrical interference. Have we tried using a low intensity phaser pulse to try to disperse the storm? Or setting up a network of probes to act as a signal amplifier for the time being? Set up some probes at the horizon and see if we can sneak in a signal *under* the storm."
"We'll be using the deflector dish sending out a strung beam to help disperse the storm, along with the transporter pattern enhancer to help amplify the communication signal," Madalene said, "....but we have some concerns of feedback but we believe have a solution for that as well. What we, apologies what I am looking for is a timeline."
"Once I'm back on the duty roster." she started, "Reconfigure the deflector array, one hour. Align the transporter to use the deflector array beam as a pattern enhancer to facilitate beam out, another hour, two tops. Then we're on constant vigil to fix things as they happen or make adjustments as we get new data." she replied. "That's all assuming nothing hinders our progress. Otherwise, double those numbers."
"Apologies," Madalene said realizing that she was once again not clear, "but that doesn't matter, it is good to have two sets of numbers for how long it'll take to get done," Madalene said, "....interesting indeed," she said more talking to herself. "Most likely when you get out you'll be helping with making the adjustments, like you as new data comes in."
"Then if that's not the time table you're looking for, what time table *are* you looking for? If it's the schedule of when medical is going to release me, I don't have that." she mentioned, starting to get a little irritated that she kept getting clarification after the fact.
"Lieutenant," Madalene said as she took a breath, "you are gonna have to get used to clarification after the fact," Madalene said rubbing the bridge of her nose. "Everything is fluid, we are not in our timeline so, I'll try to be as concise and clear as possible. from here on forwarded."
Now it was Callisi's turn to close her eye. "Ma'am. Clarification after the fact is part of the job. Clarification after the fact as our first encounter has already set the tone for that. I still don't know what timeline you're looking for, but at this moment I don't think it matters. Whatever you need of me, you have it, when I'm cleared for duty. Unless the timeline you were asking me for was the timeline that we're not a part of anymore."
She took a breath, reeling in her next few words. "I don't know what you're asking of me at this moment."
"Truth be told, I am lost as well," Madalene said feeling as if she had two brains, and both brains were mixing and matching her thoughts. "I am gonna leave you, and let you heal." And with that Madalene stood, and left the lieutenant confused and most likely frustrated.
Callisi was speechless while Madalene left her with nothing, said her good-day, and then went on her way. The door hissed open to allow her passage out, and then hissed closed to leave the rabbitess alone with her muddled thoughts and frustrations. Frustrations she vented out on that PaDD in her grasp. A course scream, and the PaDD was brought down on the edge of the bed that held her, the display flickering before going out. A toss across the room, and the PaDD found its new home on the floor of the Infirmary, broken and alone.
Like her.
