Another day, another department head...or so it felt. Hadn't it just been a few days ago that the Odin had been docked and getting on board the first batch of departmental leaders? Again, it felt like it, but she couldn't really do anything to change it, so she just waited for her new chief of operations--Lieutenant Talee Malena--to report in...

Talee was finishing up her last temporary duty shift on Providence station where she was working as a logistic officer dealing with both fleet and civilian freighters. Signing off on a few reports and giving the on-duty quartermaster a nod before she headed off for her next appointment with her actual new placement.

Her sleeves were still rolled up when security and herself arrived at the Odin’s ready room door. “Captain,” Talee said simply coming to attention in front of her desk.

"Lieutenant Malena," Mal greeted with a single nod. "Welcome aboard the Odin. Please, have a seat." The captain waved at one of the two chairs in front of her desk as she took in the woman before her. Mal hadn't served with many Caitians, let along half-Caitians, so this could be interesting. "I see you've been busy?" She gestured at the rolled-up sleeve.

“Apologies. And yes ma’am it’s been busy. Apparently Providence station has been without a quartermaster for quite sometime. Which meant their logistics have not been monitored which I was luckily enough to get back on track.” Talee said with a slight purr and as she rolled down her sleeves.

"I'm sure they were grateful," Mal said easily. "Hopefully I haven't made any enemies by taking you from the station." There was clear levity in her tone and expression.

“Doubt it from my understanding command understood they only had me for a short period of time.” Talee said simply still with that soft purr. But Talee realized that may have been sarcasm or a joke even though she was half Human Talee still struggled with Human sarcasm and jokes as she grew up on Cait.

Mallory laughed softly, mostly to herself, and nodded. "Yes, I'm sure they did," she said. "Why don't you tell me a little about yourself. I read the top-sheet brief from your record, but I like to hear it from my crew themselves as well."

“As you know I am a hybrid Caitian. Crew up on Cait raised by my Human mother. My Cait father was killed in a Orion raid. I have an unique background both civilian trained and now Fleet trained in operations with a heavy emphasis on logistics as I was the leading crewmen which with comparable to Fleet quartermaster. Which translated to most of my positions in Fleet once I graduated from the academy.” Hoping that was what the captain was asking for.

"Indeed. I'm sure you'll bring a unique perspective to your role on board," Mal said. "Do you have any questions for me at this point?"

Talee took a second to think watching the captain. “My experience for being apart of operations have been on freighters and stations. What exactly do I cover as for repairs. As I understand engineering covers equipment repairs but do they cover the optical data network or does fall under operations along with the computer core?"

Sound questions, indeed. "The optical data network as well as computer core fall under operations in terms of most elements of programming and energy functions. When it comes to hardware, engineering handles that. You'll work together with engineering often, since your areas often overlap."

Talee nodded, “…..in all honesty that was really my only question. Actually my apologies one more question. Does the ship run with a quartermaster or do those my duties?"

"No apologies needed." Mal smiled. "The ship has a quartermaster, yes, though I have no doubt that your paths will cross as well. Ops tends to liaise with many areas at many times."

Talee nodded again, “….well now I don’t think I have any more questions.” Talee said warmly seeing that operations on a ship was gonna be very different than a station or freighter.

Mallory waved a hand. "Then I will let you go to get settled in on board," she said. "As you'll see from our after-action reports, we've already been very busy and frankly, I expect more of the same. If you have any questions in the future, please don't ever hesitate to find me and ask."

“Of course ma’am.” Talee said standing up and heading for the exit where the security officer was waiting to escort her to her quarters where she assumed all of her belongings were already there.
