Well, her first trip out of the gates as CO had been more…confusing than she expected.

Mallory presently sat in her ready room while the ship now sat docked at Providence Station, which was their “home port.” It didn’t feel particularly ‘providential’ to her, but then again, she didn’t exactly believe in such things. Although if she did, she could use a little right at that moment because she’d read the same paragraph three times already.

What was that ship? And what did those pirates want with it?

More questions than answers, but that was usually the way of things, out here in the black, wasn’t it?

“Captain’s log,” she began, tossing the PADD onto the desktop with a frustrated sigh. “Stardate twenty-four, nineteen, oh-five-point-two-nine.

“Our first mission is successful in as much as we returned to the starbase under our own power and no lives were lost, despite having faced a battle in the immediate departure. We are already looking at several staffing changes, which I did not anticipate so early but…again…

“Lieutenant Kerr has been transferred for further treatment to the station, following the injuries he took on the Romulan ship. We are also receiving a new chief of operations. Hopefully this one can reply to questions a little more quickly.” She shook her head, thinking back to the “wait times” on the bridge before.

“We will remain at dock for a week or two while our personnel changes over and we make what repairs we need to ship and fighter wing. End log.”

Not very exciting on many levels, and too exciting on others. She had to wonder if this was what she had to look forward to as Captain of the USS Odin.
