Character Information

Gender Female
Species Human
Age 44

Physical Appearance

Height 5'5"
Weight 132 lbs

Physical Description Mallory Thorne is fairly average in all appearances. She is slim but not skinny, neither tall nor short. Her auburn hair and green eyes speak of her heritage tracing back to Ireland on Earth, but otherwise, she's not unattractive nor any great beauty. She smiles easily enough, however, and that tends to light up her face and even make her faint freckles wiggle in the right light.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Practically raised to become a Starfleet officer, Mal has a pretty strong sense of justice, of right and wrong, and of doing one's duty. Although she will not blindly follow a rule just because it's a rule, she feels there must be a very good reason to not follow a rule.

Sometimes snarky and sarcastic, she is nonetheless straightforward. Maybe a little too straightforward at times, but oh well, she's the captain.

History

Personal History Although few parents are actually willing to admit it aloud, it seems a common trait tha when there is more than one child in a family, they 'split' between which parent they take after.

Mallory was most like her Starfleet career mother while her sister Cecilia took after their civilian father. Mal always wanted to go on duty with her mother while they were able to live on the same postings. This wasn't always the case, but Mal tended to thrive better when it was. When Commander Thorne finally settled into the role of executive officer on Starbase Horizon with her family alongside her, Mal couldn't have been happier.

She was fascinated by science and engineering in school, and while a decent student for most of her academic career, she began to excel once on Horizon. She knew what she wanted from her life almost since she was old enough to pronounce the word "Starfleet" and to the surprise of absolutely no one, she applied to the academy as soon as she graduated high school. Given that the applicants for that year was high in both number and competitiveness, she did not make it the first time.

It just made her all the more determined for the next time, when she was accepted.

That first failure--no matter how anyone tried to reassure her--drove her hard throughout her academy years. She kept her friends few and her studies strong, seconding in science while pursuing a command track. Her secret ambition--which wasn't nearly as secret as she thought it was--was the command a starship. To reach beyond XO and be called captain someday. She graduated and moved onward from post to post, with a minimal but still existent social life, until she achieved her dream...

When she was made the Captain of the USS Odin.
