There was a horse, a horse with a horn, a horse with a horn and a rainbow tail, a horse with a horn and a rainbow trail, and it had holes in it that she could see constellations through. On it sat a young Klingon in a puce outfit with mice running in a halo over their head with a furry creature marionette that was actually singing. They, the horse, the Klingon and the marionette waved at her and chimed together, “Bye bitty bee.”
“You always had that bright oddity behind your eyes.” A voice that was familiar said, the words swirling around her visibly, shifting languages, some she knew and other she *knew* said it but she did not recognize.
The world was black and a sickly green, silhouettes of earth houses and giant otters made up a background. She was in a line with the newly transferred crewmen holding hands with Clovis and Elleese while the Captain was in the center of the line. Across the smooth black ground before them was a line of the crew that was on the Odin before. Calling out loudly the captain said, “Red rover, red rover send Harva on over.” Harva roared and curled into a ball and rolled at their line which had become pins that were knocked and scattered, “Bye bitty bee.”
Ancient cards flew around her, all sizes and faces, she was falling and they flipped and danced along with her descent. “The future is yours, but what will I hold?” Giant hands appeared and waved in figure eight patterns causing the cards to become a whirlwind that blocked her vision, the one slapped her in the face. Pulling it off it had the picture of a parachute on it, and then the voice yelled, “Nope! That is wrong!” And she fell while the cards billowed away and the cards flickered up and out of her sight.
Falling, falling, falling… splash. Liquid splashed in her face and soaked her and she was plunged into a bloody morass….
And she woke on the mat in sickbay, her uniform drenched with sweat. Opening her eyes she could see people walking around the room and others on mats just like hers. Over some of the other people bounced the horse up to her and kissed her forehead, then the figure became her father and he kissed her on her forehead and said, “Bye bitty bee.” Just as he had when he had taken her to the transport that would take her to the academy.
