Mission: Deus ex Machina
Location: Bridge
Timeline: Post-briefing

While Ensign Walker was preparing to launch for her recon run, Commander Petrova decided to chat with the one new face on the bridge. It was his first shift since coming on board, and she hadn't yet had the chance to meet him or get an idea of who he was. As such she walked over to the helm console and leaned against it, folding her arms over each other.

"Lieutenant - Bray, was it?"

Clovis was familiarizing himself with the helm setup as it was different on every ship, "...yes lieutenant Clovis Bray ma'am," Clovis said turning slightly as he gave a polite nod of his head, "commander...," he started but was unable to place the women's name.

"Petrova," Kris replied. "Kristiana Petrova. Good to meet you. Sorry, I haven't had a chance to review your file, can you tell me a bit about yourself, Lieutenant?" she asked.

This was always a tricky opener, "...as you can see I do have a prosthetic," Clovis said raising his right arm, "received it in a particularly nasty battle with some pirates," he added with a small gulp leaving the rest alone, not wanting to really deal, and or relive that moment.

"Besides that, I was born to fly," he said giving the commander a smile, and in truth, he was born to fly.

"Strong, silent type, huh," Kris smirked, shifting a bit to make himself more comfortable. "What made you join Starfleet? What brings you out here to this - godforsaken corner of the universe?"

"Starfleet felt that a change of scenery was a good thing," he said as he did some mobility exercises, as they were still needed to help calibrate the prosthetic, "...but, yes I am the typical strong, silent type, but give me time, and I'll slowly start opening up," he added with a small smile.

"As for why I joined, my father was a pilot, but I wanted something bigger and there is nothing bigger than piloting a Starfleet ship," he said simply.

"Fair, fair. You have your shuttle qualifications though, right?" She asked, a matter of factly. She specifically didn't make a point of mentioning the arm. Kris figured that if Starfleet believed him fit enough to fly, she'd trust them. "Have you settled in ok? Is there anything you need?"

"Yes ma'am I am qualified for all auxiliary craft including workerbees if that ever is needed," he said looking over the console glad to be back behind one again, it had been a while.

"For right now I think I have everything I need for now, I'll most likely at some point go meet some of the engineers so we can meet face to face, instead of just voices," he added.

"Good, good," Kris smiled. "Watch out for one of them though, he cuts an - imposing figure, to say the least. Gentlest heart on the ship though," she chuckled. "Any questions?"

Clovis looked at the commander trying to determine how serious she was, "imposing figure?" He repeated.

Kris chuckled, "Try almost nine feet tall and like seven hundred pounds."

“My god, nine feet tall!” He exclaimed unsure of how to truly respond to this, “no, this can’t be i right, or can it?” He said flabbergasted with this information.

"He's a Sirran, look it up," Kris smirked, resting a hand on his shoulder for a brief moment. "Welcome aboard. I should get back to my duties, it was nice to meet you," she added as she headed out.
