Mission: Home

It's not because it was up to the Cadets to lead this 'mission' that Indi didn't want to check in with her XO. Even if the dangers weren't real, or at least not as real as they could be, it didn't mean she was going to stop doing her job altogether. So, leaving her Cadet where she was for a moment, she headed over to Petrova. "Do you know how much further we should make the cadets go today? I don't think we have much light of day left."

"Just a bit longer will be fine, I'm sure," Kris offered with a tired smile, sweat trickling down her forehead and staining her tank top. "I'm letting Gavin - sorry, cadet Layne, set the pace, but I'm keeping an eye on him, making sure he doesn't push us too much."

Indi nodded thoughtfully, looking ahead the rather narrow path they were currently following. She couldn't help her security reflexes that this path would be an excellent location for an ambush, but she saw that her cadet was doing what she could to be ahead of it. "This is an interesting exercise," she commented, half to herself.

"Not one I would've picked," Kris scowled. "I'm Russian. Built to handle the cold. Not this heat. Not while working," She muttered.

"It's quite warm, yeah," Indi smirked with a raised eyebrow that could match quite a few Vulcans. She didn't expect her XO to complain about the heat to her, but then again, she didn't expect many of the things that were normal in this universe. She tried to roll with it and thus extended her reply. "I'm sorry to hear that though. It should at least cool down just a bit when it gets dark."

"Yeah yeah, I'm fine, just griping," Kris sighed. "Be good to be back ion the ship though. Where it's nice and comfortable. Maybe take some time off and use the holodeck for some hunting. That'd be nice."

Indi looked around. "You can go hunt here though, once we've set up camp. It looks to me like there should be quite some wildlife here."

"Don't have the right weapons, landscape is wrong, wildlife is wrong~" Kris muttered, before pausing a moment and explaining. "It's - It's a way for me to relax, using my own gun, a landscape I'm familiar with, coolerr weather than this, the relaxation is in the tracking and stalking, trying to outsmart the tur - it's not even in getting the kill. Sometimes I delay that or let them go just because that's not what it's about for me," at Indi's confused expression Kris explained further. "West Caucasian tur, it's like a mix between a goat and an antelope."

"That makes sense," Indi nodded. More to what hunting meant to the other woman than what kind of animal a.. tur.. was. She was grateful for the explanation because she'd never heard of it before, but she could appreciate the hunt. "Maybe we can do that together sometime," she offered, and was quite surprised by her own offer. Then again, she had to try to make the best of this life now.

"You wanna go along on a hunting trip?" Kristiana quirked a brow, then shrugged. "I mean, why not. Could be fun. Will have to teach you how to use a rifle, it's a different beast entirely than any phaser or other directed energy weapon," she added.

Indi briefly wondered why Kris would make the assumption she didn't know how to use a rifle, but she was happy to go along with it. "Sounds like fun, Commander. I look forward to getting to know the people here better."

"Call me Kris. We're not on the ship. Not on duty," Petrova offered. "I'm curious, what makes you so keen on going on a hunt? Just the socialization aspect?"

"It's a good way to get to know people," Indi agreed to the socialization aspect. She did believe it, too. A hunt required a person to show themselves in their stealth moves. It was a bit of a mind fuck if you thought about it too hard, but it worked for her.
