After her talk with Petrova Madalene mind wandered to what she asked, Kat and the fighters, {I should go check on them,} she thought as she logged out of her station. Grabbing her coffee, and PaDD before hopping on the lift and heading down to Cargo Bay Two, Deck 27 . Maddy looked around, "Kat, it is lieutenant Madalene Sabine, was wondering if you had some time to chat?"
The wreckage lay there as it always had, powered by the modern generator Madalene had hooked up not that long ago, all things considered. As Madalene spoke, the holographic avatar activated again, offering a soft smile, though it didn't extend to her eyes. "Hello Lieutenant. What can I do for you?"
"Actually I came down to check on you, um, I haven't been myself lately, so....um, and also the XO reminded me that we have a project we need to finish," Madalene said with a small smile, "are you up for tackling the next part?"
"What exactly would be needed for the next part?" Kat asked, curiously. She wanted to be as well prepared as she could be.
"The cradle for your AI core to fit into the fighter, which means we might need to call in one of the flight deck crew to help," Maddy said pulling out a PaDD and looking over her notes, "the fighter is gonna need to be modified to fit said cradle," she added.
"The cradle is ready, to specifications?" Kat asked, her expression lighting up a bit. She'd seemed a bit morose before, but this news apparently cheered her up.
"No, not yet that was the next step and then, well the possessions and hysteria happened," Madalene said looking around the room, "I am glad that you made it through that," Madalene added.
"Oh," Kat said, looking disappointed. At the rest of Madalene's comment she gave a nod. "I'm glad everyone made it through, though I think many people will have mental issues for a long time to come. But at least they're alive."
"But, don't worry the cradle shouldn't take long to fabricate," Madalene said looking at the specs, "the next part is gonna be tricky, tricky in the sense that I don't know enough of fighter schematics which again this is where the flight tech comes in," Madalene said looking at Kat.
"Then, we should call one in. You are leading this project, Lieutenant," Kat offered.
"Alright I'll call someone from the fighter team, but let me get your cradle built first," Madalene said double checking her PaDD, "well I better get down the industrial replicator to get this going, anything else you need?"
"Can I help?" was the simple reply.
"Actually yes, umm we have a couple materials we can use, and well I am just curious which material you preferred," Maddy said pulling up the data.
"I have some ideas," Kat offered a soft smile. She motioned with a hand, appearing a schematic of the AI cradle design with certain parts highlighted in different colors. "The structural parts need to be relatively strong and rigid, but light. I thought a titanium base frame with carbon fiber crossmembers would work. Certain parts need to be able to withstand higher temperatures, notably here and here, laminated ceramics would work," she explained, getting into the detail of certain design aspects.
Maddy just smiled, glad that Kat knew exactly what she wanted, and it was impressive looking at the specs.
