527 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Ab Intra
Location: Bridge
Timeline: MD01, 1745

The ship was under their control - whoever 'they' were. Cargo Bay Two was filling up with prisoners, 'free' Starfleet personnel, resistant to their influence. Though some seemed to have lost their sanity in the take-over attempt. No matter, they would figure out why some were resistant, solve that problem, and start occupying more bodies, rescue more of their own people. And then they could get out of here. Finally.

First though, they needed to figure out why some couldn't easily be taken over. They needed someone with access to medical equipment and medical knowledge, Kristiana-being thought. They needed -

Doctor Amelia Warner.

She walked onto the bridge after leaving sickbay. The being inside her knew that this body and brain had useful knowledge, but they needed to find the one in charge. That being was inside this ship's...executive officer, so that was who she went to find.

"Commander Petrova?" Warner asked, then smirked. "Or the body once known as."

The armed securitymen raised their weapons as Amelia entered but lowered them again at Kristiana-being's gesture. "Yeah. This body is - strong. But troublesome," she commented.

I'll show you trouble, just you wait and I'll show you how much trouble I can be! Kristiana paced in the prison of her mind like a tiger in a cage.

"It's a headache, really. You, you're - "

Santa Claus!

" - .... your body is that of a doctor, right?"

"Yes," Not-Amelia agreed with a slightly-frightening smile. "I have already learned a great deal from her mind. The medical department here has a chief in control, but he proved...difficult and I incapacitated him. I took over this one, who is next in line in charge of the whole medical group."

"Do you have full access?" Kristiana-being asked. "I have hunting parties going around the ship, rounding up crew and locking them in cargo bay two. Next step should be trying to figure out why so many are resistant to our influence."

It's because you suck!

Kristiana-being rolled her eyes and rubbed her temples. "And while you're running your experiments, can you find a way to shut up their voices? Please?"

Not-Amelia tilted Amelia's head curiously. "I take it that you're having trouble with yours?"

Kristiana-being gave a nod. "This one is particularly stubborn, loud and - "

Three thousand seven hundred and fifty eight bottles of beer on the wall~

" ... obnoxious. Almost makes me long for the storms over Alym," she sighed, hanging her head in her hands.

Not-Amelia pursed her lips a little and then nodded. "I will see what I can do. I'm going to take a couple of the resistant ones from the bay and start my study, with your agreement of course."

A nod from Kristiana-being. "Do it," there was no reason for her to be in command, other than the hierarchy of the bodies they had taken over. But it seemed that as they took over a host, some of the host's own personality bled through.

Take one down, pass it around, three thousand seven hundred and fifty seven bottles of beer on the waaaaall -
