Mission: Ab Intra

It felt like the universe was swimming around his head.

Quinn Romanov groaned as he regained consciousness, and he did not immediately know where he was. It even took him a moment to recall who he was, let alone his own situation. The who part came back fast enough, and it was shortly followed by the rest. He was slumped over the helm console of a shuttle that he had crash landed onto the surface of this creepy-ass, deserted planet. He peeled his eyes open and tried to speak. It came out more like a grunt.

Outside of the compartment, Cole was with Rosine, working on her injury. Both her and Quinn had mild concussions, nothing serious if treated, and so he had left Palmer to keep Quinn company, to run a continuous scan on him until it was his turn to be treated.

Finished with Rosine, Cole swiftly entered and was immediately by Quinn's side as Palmer got out of the way. “Thank you," he said to the security guard, who immediately left them alone. “Easy, lieutenant,” Cole said to Quinn, easing him back against his seat, and then pulled out a hypo to place it against Quinn’s neck. “You’re going to be fine,” he said, releasing the hypo's contents.

"So says you," Quinn replied, his voice hovering somewhere between a grunt and a grumble as his face grimaced and Bella tries to think of other G-words. "We're on the dirt, huh?" The fog began to slowly clear.

"Yeah." Cole nodded, glancing up to him as he made a quick adjustment to a dermal regenerator and then gently, yet firmly, held onto one side of the man's face as he started using it. "And you did great...landing the shuttle. Under the circumstances, I doubt anyone could have done any better."

Quinn grunted quietly again, this time for having his face immobilized. "My memory of the process is a little fuzzy," he admitted grudgingly. "How bad off are we?"

Cole frowned at the reality of their situation. "Engineering-wise, it doesn't look good...and we have one casualty; Lake...he's dead."

The pilot heard this with stoicism, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. There'd been a lot of death since his posting to this ship, and he wouldn't be shocked if there was a lot more. This one, he didn't even know Lake. So he just nodded. "Alright." He tried to rally his thoughts as he tried to look around. "What's our situation otherwise? Where is everyone else?"

Releasing his hold on Quinn's face, Cole replied and unhappily, "After assessing the damage, Lieutenant Romanv, Sexten, and Emerson took off toward the city." He had picked up the medical tricorder and started getting a reading on his work, informing the pilot as he turned it off, "Well, I've done all I can. Your brain will have to do the rest as far as healing. You're going to need to take it easy for a couple of days. All things considered, as much as you can."

"As much as I can," Quinn agreed with a wry smile. He didn't imagine much "taking it easy" happening down here, and if he needed to steer the shuttle back to the ship... Well, he was probably fucked, because he doubted this ship was getting in the air again. "How are you, Doctor? Have you checked yourself?"

Cole glanced up to him, having been putting his equipment away. "I've had worse beatings, I'm fine," he said, recalling how he'd quickly scanned himself, injected himself with a low dose of metorapan when he had the chance. Truth be told, he felt bruised all over.

Back on the other side of the shuttle, where they had made Rosine as comfortably as possible once they had treated her, her body suddenly jerked. And again. It seemed like no time at all between her movements and she was being thrown around like a rag doll.

"What the fuck!" were Quinn's first words when the chief of science began jerking around. He moved to stand, but in the confines of the shuttle, he couldn't easily pass the doctor. Of course, what did Quinn really think he was going to do anyway?

"Stay back," Cole had shouted back to him on his way to her. Quinn's words were his thoughts too as he reached into his belted medkit, on the way, for the hypospray.

Finally, she seemed to quiet down. Before either of them managed to reach her however, she convulsed again. This time, blood started running from her nose and ears.

His eyes continuously going up to her as he got the hypospray ready, Cole knelt quickly down, getting whacked in the face. "Damn, what's going on!!" he exclaimed, and then pressed the hypospray to Rosine's neck, releasing a high dose of anticonvulsant.

Immediately, her convulsions slowed down and her breathing started to normalize, although she was unconscious. Cole scanned her again and fell back to a sitting position where he continued to stare at her. He was confused with some of the readings, but at least, for the time being, she was stabilized.

Not being a doctor, there had been little Quinn could do...and now, there was still nothing he could do. He just sat back on his heels and looked between the doctor and the unconscious science officer. The exec and chief of security were off looking for a way to reach the ship, and here they were...in a ship that couldn't fly...

What the hell is going on here...
