It was done! And from an aesthetic prospective it was beautiful!

Tapping her communicator, "Kat this is lieutenant Sabine. It's done if you would like come down to the fabrication lab and we can work on installing and testing." Madalene said with a small smile as she felt like she was truly finally able to do something big for the AI.

"I'm on my way, Madalene," Kat's voice came back over comms. It wasn't too long after that the door slid open and the familiar four-winged dromaeosaurian form made its entry, circling the space once before diving down and shifting into the familiar, humanoid form. "Hello Madalene."

"Kat!" Madalene said with a smile on her face making sure she was staying between the door and the portable projector device. "Are you ready?"

"I do not know if I'm ready or not, but let us go ahead anyway. It's a bit step for me," Kat smiled softly.

Side stepping so that Kat see what was gonna allow her to interact and well just be more apart of the new because of that. "So, what do you think?" Madalene asked sounding a bit nervous.

Kat leaned forward a bit to look at the new device. Bigger and heavier than her current one, she knew she'd have to shut down and let Madalene take her current unit apart to fit the electronics inside the new cradle, but the rewards would be more than worth the risk and discomforting idea of letting someone else mess with her systems. Her ability to serve would be so much greater if this was successful. "Alright," She spoke, 'holding' her current remote projector in a hand. "Are you ready? I will deactivate and the unit will drop into your hand. Please be very gentle with it."

"Of course and I well," Madalene said softly and with a nod Kat disappeared and the old projector dropped into her hand. It was heavier than she expected but was more than ready to catch it. Carefully setting it onto the table before starting to remove everything from the cradle. It was slow going but it eventually was done.

Gingerly setting the new projector into the cradle Madalene started to reattach everything that she unhooked. Taking a deep breath she ran a quick diagnostics so when Kat booted back up Madalene had a baseline. "Alright here goes nothing," Madalene said to herself as she started Kat back up.

The unit activated, with an almost inaudible hum of the cooling system spooling up. It lay there for a moment, unmoving, before Kat's voice sounded "Integrating systems. Calibrating," after which it levitated, and the humanoid form of Kat shimmered into view around it. She smiled, moving her arms, then her feet, before gingerly reaching out to touch a workbench. When her finger met resistance she exclaimed happily, smile broadening.

"How does it feel?" Madalene asked as she started another diagnostic, "....explain In as much detail as you can. The more I can get the better I can interpret the data."

"It's not a feeling, it's just numbers. It's what it represents that makes it meaningful though," Kat explained. "I need to spend time calibrating this, it's - .. It's a lot."

"No worries I am collecting all the number data. The more what it represents is what I need so I can also help calibrate and it'll also allow me to know what's going on." Madalene said knowing that ensign science officer was right this could lead somewhere.

"It's - I'm not sure what to tell you, Madalene," Kat furrowed her brows, tilting her head a bit. "The entire world is numbers I interpret to build a working model of my environment. This takes over seventy percent of my current AI core load, but in the end it is all numbers. I do not know how to express them in feeling."

"Okay no worries. We may have to bring in lieutenant Rail to maybe help you explain how these numbers could interpret." Madalene said, "...but everything looks like it is working."

"It does," Kat smiled softly. "Thank you, Madalene. I'll need to spend a lot of time calibrating and figuring out the limits and possibilities."

"Oh I also added something so I can track your data better. Whenever you leave the ship and then come back all the data will automatically get sent to me so I can review it." Madalene said with a small smile, "that way we have more than one set of eyes on it. And you also very welcome."

"You are tracking everything I do?" Kat tilted her head. "Is this the Federation's standard way of operating? Is it because I am an alien AI?"

"No no not like that," Madalene said quickly, "...and no that is not Federation or Starfleet standard protocol. What I mean is your system well run consistent diagnostics even when you are off the ship. Will also on the ship. The diagnostics well be sent to me to review just to make sure everything is going fine with your new projector."

Kat gave a nod. "That makes sense," she agreed, her standard soft smile returning again. "I can agree with that. Do not worry though, even if this new device fails and deactivates, my main AI will not be affected and I will contact you."

"Apologies. I didn't mean to make it appear that you didn't or wouldn't have any privacy." Madalene quickly said feeling bad at how she put it.

"It's alright Madalene," Kat offered. "The whole concept of privacy is something I am struggling with to begin with. And I didn't think you meant anything bad. So it's alright."

"Thanks," Madalene said sheepishly, "well if nothing else you are free to go."

"Thank you again. Now let's see how this heavier unit handles flight," Kat smiled as her holographic avatar shimmered and changed to her four-winged flight form again, taking to the air. She did a circle of the space again, before heading out.

Madalene chuckled watching Kat fly around before swooping out of the lab.
