Mission:
Changing Faces
Location: Fabrication Lab

The fabrication lab was small, but it would do, seeing as the holographic projector was there. Whether she was walking around the ship or flying in one of the fighters, Kat was gonna need and want this. Walking over to a console, Madalene pulled up the ship's personnel roster. "Ah, there we go," she said to herself.
"Lieutenant Sabine to Kat and Petty Officer Romanov, could you please come to the fabrication lab? Oh, and Petty Officer Romanov, please bring the specs of the...um, whatever fighters we have onboard. Thank you," Maddy said, looking forwarded to being a project lead.
"I am on my way, Madalene," Kat's reply came readily.
"I'll be there in a few, Lieutenant," came the reply for Romanov just a moment later.
It was only a few moments before the door opened, and the now-familiar, iridescent black-feathered dromaeosaurian made its way in, banking down towards the ground and shifting into the familiar humanoid form of Kat's avatar. She offered a smile at Lieutenant Sabine. "Hello, Madalene. What can I do for you?"
"One second, Kat," Madalene said, realizing she forgot to call someone in. "Lieutenant Dering, this is Lieutenant Sabine. Would you mind coming down to the fabrication lab? I have a project that could utilize the skills of the chief engineering officer."
Lexi tapped her comm badge. "I will be there momentarily, Lieutenant."
"Apologies about that, Kat. Anyways, I hear congratulations are in order. I hear you are working on becoming an officer, or I guess a pilot," Maddy said with a small smile.
"Yes, thank you. I am," smiled Kat. "The officer's course is tough. I'm working on it right now with three hundred ish threads. Learning the regulations is easy but interpreting them and developing the right instincts is challenging."
"Truth be told, I struggled with that course as well. My upbringing didn't exactly prepare me for a life in Starfleet," Maddy said with a small smirk. "Kinda miss being out on the frontier and not having the support that a fleet provides." Maddy got a little lost in that thought.
It was just a moment later that the doors swished open again and in walked Lorelei Romanov. She was dressed in a mostly-clean technician's jumpsuit and had a pair of PADDs in her hand. "Lieutenant," she greeted Sabine, then nodded and flashed a smile at the AI. "Miss Walker. I brought the specs on the Valkyrie-III and the Hornet interceptor."
"Oh! Thank you so much," Kat smiled warmly. "This will help greatly in designing a full working interface. Thank you."
"Sure thing," Lorelei said with a nod and a smile. "I've heard you're gonna get yourself set up in one of these birds?"
"Ah, yes, Petty Officer, thank you for bringing these," Madalene said, taking the PADDs and starting to move the specs into the console. Tapping a few more buttons, the specs turned into 3D renderings. "Perfect! Alright, so we are just waiting on our dear chief engineer."
"That's correct," Kat answered Lorelei's question. "We are going to design and build an interface to place my AI core in a Valkyrie."
Lexi had her eyes down, working on something on a PADD as she entered and thus almost ran into Lorelei. The PADD bumped the other woman, and Lexi stopped, momentarily confused. Then she smiled an embarrassed little smile. "Sorry, Miss Romanov," she offered. She knew that Petty Officer was a legitimate rank, but it always felt like she was insulting them when she used it.
"Alright, now that we are all here. Our job is to help Kat here get integrated into one of the fighters. I have brought Petty Officer Romanov in on this because of her expertise with the fighters. And our lovely CEO to help with the mechanics and parts, and then I'll be working the software angle," Madalene said, laying out the task and plan. "Here are the fighter specs and this is what I have been working on with Kat to allow her to physically interact with things. I believe it can help us find ways for her to integrate with the fighters. Questions or comments?" Madalene asked, looking around at the group.
"So, definitely the valk and not a hornet, yeah?" Lorelei asked, directing the question to the AI. She didn't need to look at the specs. She could probably draw them while blindfolded. "Probably your best choice, really. It's a more versatile craft. But the hornet is a newer design."
"Yes, a Valkyrie," Kat smiled. "I like the additional power and versatility. One will have to be heavily modified to accept my AI core. Life support and humanoid cockpit facilities removed, a sled designed to seat my AI core in a vibration and shock resistant cradle with power and interface systems - it'll be some time to fully design such a unit. But the specifications you have brought will be vital in designing an interface between my AI core and the Valkyrie's flight, sensor and weapon systems."
"It is gonna take a tremendous amount of resources--well spent but still resources being used. So before we start making anything, we need to make sure it is exactly what we need," Madalene said, looking at the group. "Kat, do you have your specs of your AI core so we can start working the numbers for this cradle?"
"Of course," Kat replied readily. She motioned to a side with a hand, projecting a list of specifications for the cradle. Power supply, interface systems, temperature limits, cooling system requirements, support systems, the works. "These are the specifications to allow my AI core to operate at 100% capacity. The most labor intensive part will be a translation system to allow my interface to communicate with the Valkyrie and vice versa."
"Agreed. Um... I think while myself and Lieutenant Dering work on the cradle, power supply, interference, and cooling system along with few other things, I think you and Petty Officer Romanov can work on the translation system. She knows the ins and outs of the fighter systems better than we do."
"Kinda my job to," Lorelei said with a smile, then she nodded to the AI. "Works for me."
"And me," Kat smiled. "I look forward to working with you. May I call you Lorelei?"
"Alright so it looks like we have the teams set. Let's say we have another meeting in three days or whenever time permits it to see where we are."
