Mission: Changing Faces

"....." Was about to say something but stopped as she picked up her PaDD reading over some journals on holographic force fields. Tapping a few buttons the computer started a 3D rendering of the fourth no fifth model. They were all similar but at same time different some with slightly more power while others more finesse. Tapping her badge, "lieutenant Sabine to Kat if you are not busy I have some 3D renderings of a upgraded holographic projector."

"I can hear you, Madalene. Where are you? I will send my remote avatar over," came the reply.

"I am down in the 3D workshop," Madalene said looking over the specs of the newest 3D render.

"Alright. I am on my way," came Kat's reply. She arrived a few moments later, flying inside in her airborne form, the iridescent black feathered dromaeosaurid circling the space once before moving in for a landing, the hologram shimmering and changing into her humanoid avatar as she touched down. "Hello Madalene."

"Hello Kat," Madalene said getting used to the AI coming in on her dinosaur. "I have five variants of what I think we can do for your upgrade to your holographic projector." Madalene said tapping a few buttons bringing up all five renderings with their respective specs.

Kat smiled softly at Madalene before turning her attention to the different variants. She considered each one in turn, reading over the specs, examining the rendering, performing her calculations. "I think I like the ones with more precision over power output." Kat mused. "Battery life is a bit less important I think, as long as I can get about twelve hours of continuous full use out of it I think I will be fine. Movement speed matters, though. Especially for my alternate form. Do you think it would be possible to make two, so that I will always have one available in case the battery runs out or the unit gets damaged?"

"Okay," Madalene said making the 3D renderings of the projectors that were based off of more power disappear. "...yes it is doable but I'll need permission to construct the second one. It doesn't look like much but it is gonna take considerable power and resources to make one." Madalene said adjusting some of the data and make sure each one had a battery life of 12 hours, "....alright so this the specs if we make the battery 12 hours of life."

"I really appreciate the effort and time," Kat offered, looking at the new designs. "I like this one. I think it has the best compromise of size, finesse, power, battery life and movement speed," she motioned at one of the remaining designs, a model that was almost twice the mass of her current one, but with a good balance of functionality, favoring finesse.

Tapping the button it brought that rendering to the forefront. "...your welcome it's been awhile since I have done a project like this." Madalene said with a smile, "....alright now that is done. It is heavier which means we are gonna need to adjust the shell and all of that to make everything work."

"It's most logical I think to create a new shell and incorporate the internals of my existing remote projector. It has sufficient threads available to make use of the additional features. Do you have the schematics of my remote projector?" Kat asked.

"Yes," Madalene said tapping a few buttons, "...um right here." Madalene said pulling it up.

Kat scanned the enhanced projector she chose more closely, rendering her own projection of it, undoing the lid, and filling part of the internal space up with the internals of her current model. She contemplated a moment, then removed the battery from her current model, incorporating the battery from the enhanced one, adding the enhanced suite of micro for field adaptors and the additional repulsion emitter suite. She shifted the parts around a bit, trying to figure out connections between the parts.

Madalene just sat there fascinated by the speed at which she worked. "Incredible just incredible." Madalene said running a diagnostic on the new rendering.

"What is?" Kat asked, rapid fire rendering the intricate suite of connections between the two electronics suits, hundreds of connections seemingly knitting the two designs together. At one point she furrowed her brows a bit and started over, with the two packages rearranged slightly differently.

"How fast this is happening. It took me a better part of three days coming up with my renderings." Madalene said her eyes dancing with everything going on the screen.

Kat smiled warmly. "I'm consuming seven-point-four kilowatts of power and dedicating 93% of my capacity to doing this," she explained, her words slow and measured, as if it took more effort to speak them. "This is not a small or easy task. But giving my core a full stress test work-out is fun," she smiled. "There, I believe this is a workable model." she added, concluding the design.

"Well it is beautiful!' Madalene said looking over the specs taking her time examining every part. "....it'll take some time but very doable. I may have to exchange some materials but yes very doable." Madalene said with a smirk.

"Alright," Kat gave a nod. "If there is anything more I can do I would be happy to. Be aware that while you integrate my current projector I will not be able to use my remote avatar."

"Alright....we'll make it as seamless as possible. Obviously we'll keep you online for the process as much as possible. Think of it as ...well brain surgery we'll need to know how the systems are reacting to the changes. Diagnostics can only tell us so much." Madalene said with a soft smile.

"My core will be online and I can project a local avatar in the cargo bay," Kat offered.

"Perfect," Madalene said, "....I'll again need a few days to get this one made and then of course permission from captain Thorne to make sure we can make a second one."

"Thank you, Madalene. This will increase my ability to be useful by an order of magnitude," Kat smiled. "And,thank you, for being a good friend and taking care of me. I really appreciate it."

"You are very welcome!" Madalene said giving her a smile. "I am glad that I have been able to be helpful."

"I'll leave you to it now though," Kat smiled. With a nod she jumped up into the air, her hologram shifting to the four-winged avian again, which circled the space once before flying off with one last "Thank you again, Madalene."
