....walking into the transporter room mostly just to make sure everything was working properly. Truth be told she should be doing it more but it was a technology that was taken for granted. At least until they got here where transporters were well used differently. "Petty officer um...petty officer Pasgen," Madalene called out and hoping she had the right name.
"I am here," came a muffled voice from behind the operator's console and then a quick moment later, s/he popped up, a hyperspanner in hish hands. "I am Pasgen." Hish eyes looked her over and seem to brighten. "And you are lieutenant Madaline Sabine. Oh yes.." s/he gave her a smile, "this I know."
"Yes that is me. Apologies but I have seemed to have forgotten the rest of your name." Madalene said.
"The rest of my name is 186," Pasgen replied happily and then decided s/he might as well explain. "I am the One-hundred and eighty-sixth Pasgen in my family. My mother is Pasgen 185, my sibling is Pasgen 187."
Madalene nodded it was simple and made sense now why everyone in the family was named the same that was a whole different question. "Anyways I am doing a tour of all my operations crew checking in and see how everything is going."
"Everything is going fine as I have been doing some performance modifications," Pasgen answered, hish tone became a little dark as s/he continued, "Something to do, as well as preparation in case of an emergency, all things considered."
"Good thinking. How are we looking?" Madalene asked looking at the console seeing what they were working on. Still kinda figuring out the pronouns.
"After an error found during a diagnostic, 'I' improved the autosequence signal routing and pattern buffer availability," Pasgen replied, closing a panel. "Oh yes, that is what I did. Even site to site is much better than before." Then s/he gave a toothy grin, "We should be ready for whatever may come."
Madalene nodded very impressed with the improvements. "Good work," Madalene said again. "Do you mind if I take a look at the diagnostic logs?" She knew she was his/her department head but there was still a politeness to it.
"Oh yes, of course, Sir." Pasgen pulled the diagnostic back up onto the screen before moving off to the side. "I think I should run a specific diagnostic next on the pattern buffers. Oh yes... " s/he started drumming hish finger tips together as if in thought, "I really should."
Madalene took a second and looked over the diagnostics seeing what s/he was seeing. "....what was this spike here?" Madalene asked pointing out a spike it was small like a small thing was transported but according to the records nothing was.
"It was an error between molecular imaging scanners while testing site to site, Lieutenant. I'ts been corrected," Pasgen beamed.
Madalene nodded looking at the diagnostic. "....that is a bit troubling especially site to site which usually is used for emergency medical transporting. Please keep an eye on it and let's run a few more tests and really make sure we really have it fixed. Last thing we need is well....a disaster medical site to site transportation."
Pasgen became serious, "Oh yes, sir. I certainly will do, " wanting to do a good job and please her.
'Thank you," Maddy said with a nod stepping away from the console. "....also those catches very impressive. Not everyone would have caught them before it was too late."
"Why thank you, sir. I will pull a team together and we will begin a Level 1 diagnostic on all transporter systems right away. And inform you of the results as soon as they are complete." Transporter steps performed automated diagnostic test, but at this point, s/he wanted to reassure the both of them.
"Good and thank you," Madalene said looking around, "and if you need some extra hands just let me know." Madalene said giving the petty officer a smile before heading towards the exit.
Pasgen watched her leave with intense interest and then needed to sigh. "I certainly will," s/he said to hirself before going back to work.
