Mission: Changing Faces
Location: Sickbay

Tayla Sexton entered the sick bay as she had done for just over three weeks. Her day would start with a run on the tread mill, a quick shower and then down to sick bay. She would check on Alex and if there had not been any changes, she would get down to the flight deck, do the checks on her fighter making sure all of her hard points were good, and then check in with her Squadron leader before heading out on her patrol. When she had completed her patrol, she would turn in her report and head straight to sick bay to see if her husband had come out of his Coma.

I believe it's safe to say that this crew had been through the shitter in a big way. Today though was somehow different. On her way to sickbay after her patrol, people looked at her differently as they passed her in the corridor. As if she too had a reason to smile. And as she got closer and closer to sickbay, that feeling intensified. As she entered, the head nurse smiled at her and pointed toward the recovery room. Her heart leapt with excitement.

"Are you serious?" She asked the nurse.

"Yes, go see. He may be sleep, but he is back with us." Said the nurse.

As she rushed through, she saw another nurse removing the Atrophy protocol equipment from his body. Tayla almost knocked the nurse down as she reached for him. "Oh my God, I thought I'd lost you forever." She said grabbing him and pulling him tight.

"Who are you?" He managed through her flight suit which covered his mouth as he tried to speak through the hug she was giving him.

She pulled back. Frowned at him as if she would kill him. "What did you just ask me?" She asked through gritted teeth.

"Ok, just joking, Ha ha ha I'm sorry I just thought I'd mess with you for a moment." He laughed.

"Boy you better stop playing with me after all we been through." Said Tayla as she went in for the kiss. It lingered for a moment, and he looked into her eyes.

"I'm sorry baby, I did not mean to be away as long as they say I was out. Three weeks is a long time. My brain most have been really scrambled!" Offered Alex

"It had something to do with Toxicity. That's like the third type of Coma. So you got off lucky with no physical brain damage. Something in your brain just needed to realign itself with this reality." Said Tayla

"I'm impressed. I'll bet you know all about Comas now?" He said

"Enough to know I don't ever want to go through what you went through." She said "They tell you how long it would be before you head home?" Asked Tayla but before he could speak, the doctor showed up.

Doctor Amelia Warner was the one who walked up to the bed, which was part of a group sectioned off in a different area of sickbay since it had become for the handful of long-term patients created when the Odin made its way back to its own time...which hadn't, as most of them knew by now, worked out so well.

"Lieutenants," she offered with a polite smile. "It's good to see you back with us, Mr. Sexton." She approached the bed. "How're you feeling now that you've been awake for a little while?" She took out her tricorder and scanner attachment to start a basic scan.

“Well if I’m honest, I feel pretty good. I think the Atrophy protocol helped tremendously because I’m sure I could walk if I had to.” And he looked at his wife and smiled.

“Ok big fella. One step at a time there.” Said Tayla with a slight chuckle.

"Listen to your wife," Amelia said with a smile, although her eyes were still on the tricorder screen. "You're looking pretty good, but we still need you to stay put for a little while longer to make sure there are no surprise secondary effects. However, barring that, you should be cleared for duty before too long at all."

“Hey don’t worry. I’ll do what You say doc. But my wife I’m sure wants me out of here as soon as possible.” Said Alex

"Of that, I'm sure," Amelia said easily. After a few more moments, she shut the tricorder and slid it into her lab-coat pocket. "Everything is looking good. I'd say another day here for observation and we'll be able to release you. In the meantime, I'll alert command that you've awoken."

“This is great news.” Replied Tayla “I’ll request a 24 hour pass so I can help you get past the first day or so. Then I’ll leave you to it so you can get back on the horse. So to say.”

Amelia offered another smile. "Well, I'll let you two have some time," she said. "Call me if you need anything."
