Deterioration

Lieutenant’s Log, Stardate 24XX.3 An away team has been announced to survey the unidentified M-classer, the landing party quickly identified the remnants of a failed hub establishment. No contact was made, and the crew comms were reporting possible contaminants of the psychedelic variety lingering in the atmosphere. Command is waiting for readings to prove or disprove this theory, but if Commander Petrov held command of the away team then there can be little doubt something went wrong…

Lieutenant's log, Stardate 24XX.4 It has been cycles since the last dispatch to the M-classer, the Odin taking precautious measures to remain out of orbit in case hostiles are lurking. Tactical is…poorly run these days. I have only myself to blame, but I know that a few adjustments will see my unit back in pristine order.

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.11 Lieutenant Sovok’s unannounced calibrations of the shield frequencies the other days alarmed a few cadets the other day. Two had even armed themselves without authorization. When questioned on why they violated the ship’s weapon handling protocol the crew—my men stared at me with insubordination permeating every gesture. I…I almost snapped. I wanted to remind them of the difference between our station, between our breeding in an untamed tide of physical re-instruction of the separation between ranks. The moment passed and I ordered the offending plebes report to C-Sec to submission for punishment. Why are even my men so incapable of holding fast to their duty?

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.12 The Captain refuses to meet with me citing the sitrep on the unmarked M-22. Even my appearance at flight deck went unnoticed and was it me or were other senior officers casting sidelong glances as I took my position? The hint of indignation an obvious byproduct of frustration surely…

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.13 The Captain refuses to meet with me citing the sitrep on the unmarked M-22. Even my appearance at flight deck went unnoticed and was it me or were other senior officers casting sidelong glances as I took my position? The hint of indignation an obvious byproduct of frustration surely…

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.29 I haven’t been attending staff briefings for longer than I can remember. I don’t remember the last graviton reading I took of the ship’s main shields instead skulking about in the range. I know I make a mockery of myself, moping about in the armory, pretending to catalogue the number of phasers and reviewing the integrity of the photon torpedoes in order to refile a report that was submitted the previous cycle. I wonder if someone else has been performing these roles; no one has asked me what I am responsible for. Does anyone even care?

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.30 Fisticuffs at Ensign Sov proved to be enough to confine me to my quarters. The Ensign thought himself beyond my command and when I made certain that a clear hierarchy had been established others came to calm me enough for civil discourse, but I’d had enough. I slipped away from the commotion winding up in quarters.

Lieutenant’s log, Stardate 24XX.31 I am to see Lieutenant Dering after a period of four cycles to evaluate my psyche and disposition. I want to laugh as I stare out into the endless void. I had arrived upon the Odin with purpose. The starts were my odyssey and I would conquer the stars…the remnants of the dreams linger long after the though of them fades. Now staring out into the abyss its darkness seeps into me until I fear I will be no more.
