Where is the rock going?

Mission: Home
Location: Stellar Cartography Lab

"Ah lieutenant, you have found something outstanding I have to say, at least this is my first rogue planetoid discovery," Cydwenn said her eyes wide with excitement.

"Take it, easy ensign, we have a lot of work to do," Madalene said keeping a cool exterior, even as she was just as excited as the ensign was. "First, we need to make sure it is, in fact, a rogue planetoid, and if it is figure out its trajectory is, and if it'll be passing through any inhabitable systems," Madalene added taking a seat next to Cydwenn.

Cydwenn nodded, "yes, lieutenant," Cydwenn said tapping a few buttons as she pulled up potential trajectories, "so it is a bit tricky mostly because of the planetoid's mass, seeing as it is 2.72x that of Earth, and yet it has a trajectory and is acting like a rogue planetoid," Cydwenn said pulling up some of the planetary data in a side bubble.

"You are sure about the mass?" Madalene asked looking at the data that was constantly changing as new scans came in.

"Yes, and if it was orbiting a star it would be looking at an almost 20-hour daily rotation," Cydwenn said tapping a few more buttons, "unh, well if these are accurate for right now it is not heading towards any inhabited systems, but there is just something off about the planetoid itself," Cydwenn added.

"Agreed," Madalene said looking at the data that was coming in. "That blip right there, what is that?"

"....it it looks like seismic activity lots of seismic activity, which then, in turn, causing heavy volcanic activity," Cydween said trying to isolate some data points, "I'll need some more time, and data to even come close to getting a better picture.

Madalene sighed, this was the one part that Madalene always hated, the waiting. "Alright, we all know this was gonna take time, but all of this is interesting, very interesting," Madalene added standing up and paced a little. "Keep monitoring and alert me if the planetoid course changes," Madalene said as she needed to get going on the report.

Cydwenn nodded but she didn't look away from the screen, "yes, right of course," she added finally looking up, still having a beaming smile on her face. Knowing how special this was, finding something this big, something that potentially shouldn't be there. Madalene returned a smile, as she started feeling more and more at home leading the science department.
